IFE Talk Series: Wounded education experiences of sweeper communities in Lahore: Dr. Ayra Patras

What are the types of education barriers faced by the sweeper communities in Lahore that suffer from severe discrimination, ostracization and stigmas in our society. This weekend, we will be premiering our interview with Dr. Ayra Patras, an expert from the field who has presented her in-depth analysis and important research on the subject actively. Dr. Ayra Indrias Patras is Assistant Professor at Forman Christian College University, Lahore. Since 2006, she has been involved in promoting and protecting human rights pertaining to women and religious minorities in Pakistan. Incorporating human rights perspectives in her work, she has been actively engaged with women’s movement in Pakistan, raising voice against patriarchal prejudices and violence against women in Pakistan. Her doctoral dissertation has investigated the intersections of gender, caste and labor producing multiple disadvantages for minority women situated at the fringes of society. She is a member of National Lobbying Delegation on Minority Rights advocating for the constitutional rights of religious minorities in Pakistan.
