Teaching Evolution and Government Policies: Lessons from Turkey and Iran

My commentary for Ibtidah on removal of theory of evolution from science textbooks in Turkey back in 2018. My opinion is based on a New York Times article carrying the quote of an education official in Turkey defending removal of chapter saying that children are not prepare to understand such concepts. In comparison, Iran's children flourish in science because they face no such restriction, despite the state being ultra-conservative.
